Hosting is one of our core services, with countless man-hours spent designing and maintaining our platform to deliver consistency. We know how important it is to deliver fast and reliable hosting for both your website and email, and to ensure this is delivered we spend vast amounts of time and money on our infrastructure.
Everything we do is operated from within the UK. Our primary data centre is located in East London, and our development and support centre in South London. You can read more about our data centres here in this guide.
As standard, we backup all our servers off-site daily. We believe that it is important to plan against life's unplanned outages and disasters, and as such everything from emails through to databases and web sites are securely held on back-up clusters within another data centre.
View both real-time and historical information about the visitors to your web site. You can both view detailed Webalizer graphical statistics through our control panel. These are provided as a free option on all accounts.
Whether you are building a new website from scratch, or testing your site on CIX servers before switching hosts, you can preview your files with ease. Each hosting account is supplied with a unique URL allowing you to test and see the content you store on our servers before committing your DNS to point to us.

Both Windows & Linux hosting accounts can be accessed using FTP. You can either choose to use the main FTP credentials supplied when you sign-up, or you can create additional logins, with the own restriction rules, via the control panel interface.
You can restrict who can gain access via FTP to an account. Rules can be specified to restrict access to a specific IP addresses or subnets. Likewise specific rules can be applied to block addresses should unauthorised attempts be made. The rules can be indefinite, or limited to hours and minutes, or a specific date in the future.
For maximum security, and to aid in tracking down misuse, we have developed an FTP log page. This allows you to see in real-time which IP addresses are logged in to our systems via FTP and the changes they have made. Logs are permanently retained.
To make viewing, adding and editing files easy we have designed an online file manager where you can securely interact with your website files without the need of an FTP client. Simply login to your master control panel to gain access.
Is the operating system, based on the Debian Linux distribution, that we use on the majority of our web and email servers. It is a very popular OS, incredibly stable, and backed up with long term support.
Short for 'chronograph', cron is a time scheduling service on UNIX operating systems used to periodically execute commands. Once installed on an account, it is possible to schedule the execution of scripts within an account's webspace at various points throughout the day, month or year.
We have provided an easy to use php.ini configuration editor, and link to the phpinfo output.
Password Protection on your web directories allow you to set restricted access to your web site on a per user and directory basis. When a user tries to access the directory they are presented with a password login prompt. The control panel allows you to easily setup and administer the user access.

The customer error pages allow you to present something more informative and in the style of your website allowing you to increase the chances of retention to your site, as opposed to the standard uninformative page.
View a log of any errors generated by your website or scripts via our control panel. This is ideal for spotting problems with your sites scripts before your customers do.
This facility can be used to reset the file and directory permissions throughout an account. CGI scripts and directories will be set to 0755 and all other files will be set to 0644.
The MySQL database server is the world's most popular open source database management system as of 2021. MySQL is a popular choice of database for use in web applications, and is a central component of the widely used LAMP open source web application software stack (and other 'AMP' stacks).
As a Linux Reseller you can setup and manage an unlimited number of MySQL databases on your reseller hosting account at no extra charge, ready for you to resell to your clients. Each hosting account setup can house up to 10 databases. All databases operate on replicated clusters for maximum resilience with backup dumps created every 12 hours and sent securely off-site to assist in the event of disaster.
phpMyAdmin is a free and open source tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL with the use of a Web browser. It can perform various tasks such as creating, modifying or deleting databases, tables, fields or rows; executing SQL statements; or managing users and permissions.
Hourly, daily, weekly and monthly statistics are provided in graphical form. These cover a large number of requests covering commands, updates and data fetching. These can provide a valuable insight into how your site and data is performing and being used.
Customers on our Linux hosting platform can now access simple one-click scripts. These help assist you through the installation process of common popular open source scripts. The vast majority of web hosting is run from our Linux servers. You would choose the Windows hosting solution if your site depended on scripts or databases that only run from Windows. For example, ASP.NET scripts, or Access databases. If unsure what platform you should select, please email or call us for guidance.

Many MIME types are preset on our Windows web servers, however should a specific file type or web application not appear on your site or function correctly, such as a Flash Video, you can define your own custom MIME types on the web site.

Our shared hosting platform runs Microsoft SQL Server 2022 edition, providing you with the very latest in database technology.
Access Databases provide an easy to use option for smaller web sites. Upload an unlimited number of databases using a DSNLess connection to connect to your databases.

If you need an email address you would typically create a POP3 mailbox to collect the email. It is then the job of your mail client (eg Outlook) to download the mail to your computer, or you can view it via our webmail. If you need the email address of sales@yourdomain.com then you would call your mailbox 'sales'.
IMAP mailboxes are an alternative to POP3, whereby the mail remains stored at all times on our servers. You can then connect multiple devices (eg your computer, your phone and your work laptop) to read and reply to your emails. Delete an email from your phone, and all devices reflect this deletion. 100MB mailboxes are available included in your package, but larger 1GB, 2GB, 5GB, 10GB and 20GB options are available.
If you need multiple email addresses, but don't necessary need separate POP3 or IMAP mailboxes, mail forwarders can help achieve this. You can set the forwarded address to direct to a mailbox, or externally to another address (eg your personal Gmail email).
Sometimes referred to as an out of office response, you can set our system to instantly reply to someone who has emailed you. This could be used to confirm that you are unable to reply, or to simply confirm receipt.
These are best implemented where multiple staff members need to receive a copy of the same email. For example, you may have a sales@ email address which you send copies to all of your sales staff to ensure that they act as quick as they can.
Catch-all email addresses ensure that you receive email no matter what address it has been sent to. This ensures you receive emails regardless of spelling. The downside being is that spammers can make great use of this sending to anything@yourdomain.com and you will receive it.
As an optional extra we can supply spam and virus filtering on your hosting account. This can help rid your mailbox of unwanted and potentially harmful mail. You have full control over the settings to alter sensitivity, and statistics show you just how powerful this can be.
If you are out of the office, or anywhere in the world, with an Internet connection you will be able to read and reply to emails using our webmail. We have the option of two very different interfaces to pick from.
